Who wrote MIDI Maestro?

MIDI Maestro's developer is Ken Pletzer.  Since teaching himself piano at the age of 11, he hasn't stopped playing.  Ken's wife Debbie introduced him to community theater when they met in 1993.  After watching friend (now beta tester) Bob Ballard direct a show with MIDI and a Roland sequencer, Ken knew this was something he wanted to do.  Ken, a University of Michigan engineering graduate and full-time software developer, decided that he wanted to use a PC and software instead.

Why another music software package?

Simply stated, nothing else on the market in the mid-1990's was designed for this type of live performance.  Choices were limited either to using a dedicated hardware sequencer or to tricking a software package that was designed to be used in a studio setting into doing something else.  Hardware solutions were expensive, offered little visual feedback, and required just buying a new one when it was time to update.  Software packages such as Cakewalk 5.0 and 6.0 were limited in (oh) so many ways.

MIDI Maestro was first used in a show in February 1999 for a production of The Sound of Music.  That early version of MIDI Maestro was just a "player," but offered many of  cues that still exist in the software today.

What's in store for the future?

For as long as I remain a musician, MIDI Maestro will continue its evolution, and its core focus will remain exactly what it has been since its inception--live performance.  I will also continue to rely heavily upon the input of fellow performers and directors for input and guidance.

First, I play in a rock band and was looking for a nice Midi
sequencer that can be use to play live jam/gig and also have FULL
control over the midi. Having a Start button, with TAP for tempo, and
also playing the introduction until I decide to start the song was a
most. Other sequencer I found did'nt give you the control like
