Can I change the default keyboard shortcuts?

Yes.  MIDI Maestro allows you to customize your keyboard shortcuts (also known as "accelerators" in Windows lingo).  If you use multiple pieces of music software, you may find it convenient to "emulate" another package's keyboard commands.  The "Setup/Keyboard accelerators" command will open a window similar to this one:

A configuration or set of accelerators used together is called an accelerator map.  You may create any number of accelerator maps.  To create a new map based on the current list of shortcuts, type a new name in the "map to edit/use" box and then click on the save (disc) icon.  To remove a map from the list of maps, click on the X icon.  Note that the "default" accelerator map may not be changed or removed.  Two additional icons exist which allow you to import and export your maps so that they may be shared between users or systems.

MIDI Maestro's menus will be updated automatically to reflect the currently available accelerators.  Also note that if you wish to use keyboard shortcuts, insure that the "enable accelerators" box is checked.

How do I add a new shortcut?

You must be using a custom map (not the default map) before attempting to Add or Edit.  Click "Add" to create a new keyboard shortcut.  Click on an existing shortcut and click "Edit" to change it.  The following window will appear:

Select a function, and then select the keyboard shortcut by clicking on the "set to next command typed" button.  Then, type the command exactly as you would to use it.  All combinations of the Shift, Ctrl, and Alt keys may be used in conjunction with almost every key on the keyboard.  There may be certain key combination which are impossible to use as they may have special meaning to the operating system (Ctrl+Alt+Delete is a prime example).

In addition to using the Add, Remove , and Edit buttons, you may also use the Insert, Delete, and Alt-Enter keyboard commands to perform the same tasks.  To edit shortcuts, you may also right-click or double-click with the mouse over the item that you wish to edit.

First, I play in a rock band and was looking for a nice Midi
sequencer that can be use to play live jam/gig and also have FULL
control over the midi. Having a Start button, with TAP for tempo, and
also playing the introduction until I decide to start the song was a
most. Other sequencer I found did'nt give you the control like
